AT 36 EAGER – a narrated deep sea dive

AT36-Eager was an NSF funded early-scientist training cruise on the R/V Atlantis out of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Its goal was to give young scientists research experiences they wouldn’t normally have.  Secondarily,  the cruise’s purpose was to teach these young scientists to communicate with the public and use the R/V Atlantis for 24/7 broadcast.  This included a New York Times Facebook live video which reached over 70 thousand people.  Here is a link to that video, in which I am the live handheld camera operator:

Video of this type had never been done onboard the R/V Atlantis, and it was up to my partner and I to set up and coordinate production in order to beam from our ship to our satellite. From there, the video went to a University where we posted a live stream to YouTube via their website.  That YouTube stream was then picked up and broadcasted via the NYT Science Facebook page.
